Dreamfall: The Longest Journey
Dreamfall: The Longest Journey, which was released April 17th, 2006, received a great rating from Gamespot. Dreamfall: The Longest Journey is a follow up to its highly successful predecessor, The Longest Journey, a sci-fi fantasy of epic proportions. This installment delivers what one would expect; given the fame of the original, but is designed so that even new players can be drawn into the game and understand what is going on. The game begins in the present with you playing as Zoë Castillo. Zoë seems to have it all, but upon further inspection it is evident that her life is falling apart. She's just dropped out of school and broken it off with her long time boyfriend. Zoë and her ex are still on good terms and a request for her to help him with a story sends Zoë on a journey across the Earth and beyond. There are numerous puzzles she has to solve and a slew of memorable characters she interacts with on her way. The only complaint seems to be that the game ends too quickly, leaving several loose ends untidy. Dreamfall: The Longest Journey retails for $39.99 and is available at retailers nationwide.
Syberia:
Syberia is another excellent pc point click adventure game which received a superb rating from Gamespot. Although it has been on the market for some time, it remains one of the best adventure games available. The game takes place throughout present day Europe and revolves around the main character's, Kate, quest to secure her companies take over of a small toy manufacturer. The deal quickly goes awry as Kate witnesses the funeral of the toy company's owner Anna, with no known heir. Kate soon discovers that their may in fact be a remaining heir and sets off to find him. The environment is stunning and the game play is evenly paced, leaving players to appreciate the rare feat the developers' of Syberia achieved, creating a thoroughly stimulating, engaging and beautiful adventure game that incorporates good character development, gorgeous landscapes and a great storyline. Syberia is available for $9.99 at Amazon.com.
Broken Sword: Angel of Death
The fourth installment of Broken Sword, Angel of Death promises to be an exciting addition in the series. Due to be released sometime this fall, Angel of Death is highly anticipated and will only be released in a pc version. Once again the main character is George, and he does not seem to be doing well when you meet him. George meets a new girl, Anna Marie, which will surely be trouble as we're told she's not as she appears. Her disappearance sends George on a journey across the world to save her. Neither pricing nor a released have been set yet for the American version, however the European version will be released September 15, 2006. For those interested, Broken Sword also has an adventure game on pocket pc called Broken Sword: Shadow of the Templars.

Adventure games for pc's have come a long way from the simple text based games of the past. Today's best pc adventure games entail beautiful scenery, memorable characters, stunning soundtracks and interesting storylines which keep players begging for more.
